Mike’s tree and plant knowledge is extensive. Mike prefers to purchase from local landscaping nurseries and sod farms. Mike can accompany the client to the nursery to hand pick plants, trees and shrubs. This gives Mike the opportunity to suggest landscaping ideas and lets the client get a look at many different options for their design.
Mike will explain the growth habits of the plants and trees and the necessary room to allow for proper growth. Trees that are suitable for this climate will be discussed and can be tagged to be held at the nursery for pick up by Mike’s landscaping crew.
This hands on service is just one of the ways Mike goes beyond the average landscape contractor.
Xeriscaping
Mike has found in the past few years quite a few people are changing to Xeriscaping. This term refers to reducing or eliminating the need for supplemental irrigation.
Mike has experience with planning, design and implementation of drought-tolerant plants such as Cactus, Juniper, Thyme and Lavender and the use of low emission drip system irrigation. Another aspect of Xeriscaping is the use of Synthetic Turf to replace an existing lawn area for the conservation of water.
Mike has established ties to vendors of this Synthetic Turf and has had good results in the use of combining this with living plants and dry river bed areas.
